Officers

Carmela (Carla) Siojo, President, has been the Director of the Office of Placement and Career Services at the Ateneo de Manila University for the past 7 years. She finished a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry: Family Ministry and Counseling both at the Ateneo de Manila University. She served as the Philippine Country Director for APCDA and is now the President of APCDA. She is involved with other professional organizations such the National Career Development Association (NCDA), Association of Placement Practitioners of Colleges and Universities (APPCU) in the Philippines, and the Career Development Association of the Philippines (CDAP). Brian Hutchison, Past President, PhD, LPC, CCCE, is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Counselor Education at New Jersey City University, USA. Dr. Hutchison received his doctorate degree in Counselor Education & Supervision from Pennsylvania State University and has worked as a career, school, and mental health counselor. Brian’s career consultation and education work operates within the brand of Global Career Guywhere he specializes in developing career publications, keynote talks, workshops, and on-line career coaching and mentorship content for global career professionals. He has more than four dozen publications and is currently writing the 13th Edition of School to Career, a textbook for high school students. Woongtae Kim, President-Elect, PhD, is CEO & President of Career Building System & Consulting Co. Ltd. and a professor at Shinheung College and Graduate School of Kwangwoon University.  Dr. Kim earned a Ph.D. from Konkuk University (Seoul, Korea).  He is also a Global Career Development Facilitator and CDF Instructor. José F. Domene, Treasurer,  PhD, LPsych, is a Professor and Canada Research Chair in School-to-Work Transition at the University of New Brunswick, where he teaches and supervises students in the Med counseling program. His areas of research interest include (a) relational contexts of career development, (b) emerging adults’ transition into the workforce, and (c) professional issues in counselling in Canada, including career counseling practice and education. Raza Abbas, Pakistan Country Director, is the Chief Executive Officer of Pathway Global Career Institute and Founder of professionalization of Career Education in Pakistan. He earned the Outstanding Career Practitioner Award from APCDA in May, 2017, was recognized by UNESCO as one of the leading Social Entrepreneurs in Asia in the Philippines in 2017, and was profiled in a global bestselling book, The World Book of Hope. Soonhoon Ahn, Program Committee Director, a global career promoter and executive career strategist, Soonhoon is passionate about helping clients with their job searches and career/life transitions. She is a lifelong advocate of international development careers for professionals seeking to advance the quality of human life. She believes in the spirit of Ubuntu. Her extensive professional work experience is rooted in her decades-long international recruitment and human resource management experiences with the World Bank Group (WBG) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). She provided HR services to the IMF/World Bank Annual Meetings, and facilitated numerous reorganizational processes within the WBG. Sungsik Ahn, Korea Country Director, is a Ph.D. candidate in the Counseling Program of Korea University. He completed his master’s degree in Career Counseling. He is a Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) and Career Development Facilitator Instructor (CDFI). He has been working for a university career center for twelve years and he received the Minister’s Award for his excellence of services. He has co-authored articles published in the Career Development Quarterly and the Journal of Employment Counseling. Lucila Bance, Philippines Country Director, PhD, is the Director of the Counseling and Career Center of the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines. A recipient of a grant to develop a model counseling and career center in the Philippines from USAID STRIDE. A recipient of a lifetime achievement award from APCDA in Career Development. Agnes Banyasz, Australia Country Director, is a career strategist and intercultural communications coach with 30 years’ experience that spans industries and continents. For 10 years she managed the first faculty-based career center at the University of Melbourne that offered customized career services to business students and alumni. She is a CICA accredited Certified Leading Professional, maintains memberships in key professional associations and has participated in conferences all over world. This connectedness to local and international best practice allows her to build strong and rewarding relationships with clients. Satomi Chaudasama, PR Committee Director, NCC, CCC, GCDF, is a founding member of APCDA and the current chair of the Public Relations Committee. Originally from Japan, she has been working in the career development field in higher education institutions in the United States for more than 18 years. Satomi is passionate about helping people identify and pursue their career aspirations as well as global career development and cultural transitions. She is currently working in the Office of Career Services at Princeton University where she has spent over 11 years in career counseling and employer engagement. Vandana Gambhir, India Country Director, PhD, is Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology, University of Delhi and Country Director, India for APCDA, is an alumnus of Nehru Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, one of the premier and reputed homoeopathic colleges of India. A gold medalist of University of Delhi, she started her professional career as a physician and later excelled and received her doctorate in the discipline of psychology. Her field of involvement in psychology research work spans across psychometric testing, organizational behavior, career competencies, personality psychology, social psychology, competency mapping, positive psychology, consumer behavior, and geriatrics mental health. William Gunawan, Indonesia Country Director, is a Senior Lecturer with a demonstrated history of working from the Faculty of Psychology, Krida Wacana Christian University (UKRIDA), Jakarta. Skilled in Career Development, Coaching, Counseling, Educational Psychology, and Lecturing. Strong research professional with an S3 focused in Career Development from Griffith University, Australia and S2 focused in Educational Psychology from the University of Indonesia. I have a special interest in Career Development and currently developing a new perceived future employability scale which will be useful to investigate the perceptions that young adults have on their future employability, and how these perceptions influence their current behavior and well-being. Gulnur Ismayil, Azerbaijan Country Director, is a qualified Global Career Development Facilitator with more than 10 years of experience in career development and guidance. Mrs. Ismayil is currently holding position of Career Management Center Director at ADA University, where she was responsible for the establishment of the Center, development of its resources and services for the students of ADA. Throughout those years, Gulnur was involved in various volunteer trainings for the youth of SABAH Groups, ASAN Volunteers and others to speak about essentials of career planning and management. Before joining ADA University, Mrs. Ismayil has worked for the international executive recruitment agency, Michael Page International, in Moscow, Russia. She facilitated establishment of a new business line in Sales and Marketing for the Healthcare and Government sectors with the extensive personnel match and development for the relevant businesses. She holds a degree in Area Studies and IR from the Volgograd State University, Russia, a postgraduate certificate in Talent and Career Management from the Charted Institute for Personnel and Development ; Middlesex University, UK and a Master degree in Diplomacy from the University of Nottingham, UK. Leili Jin, China Country Director, PhD,is a vocational psychologist in the Career Development Center of Tsinghua University and teaches Career Planning and Vocational Psychology to undergraduates. She obtained her PhD from the Faculty of Education, at the University of Hong Kong. She was a member of the National Career Development Association, USA. Her current interests include the contributions of university experiences to career-related outcomes among Chinese university students, career assessment, and professional identity among Chinese career practitioners. Hector Lin, Singapore Country Director, is the Secretary-General of the People Career Development Association (PCDA) of Singapore. He is currently serving as a Director at Jobkred, a technology company that uses Big Data and Artificial Intelligence to provide career technologies, digital guidance systems and tools. Hector is trained in Singapore’s WSQ Advanced Certificate in Career Development Facilitation (ACCDF) / Global Career Development Facilitator-Singapore (GCDF-SG) and Singapore’s WSQ Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA). He is also a Practising Management Consultant (PMC) certified by Singapore Business Advisors & Consultants Council (SBACC). Hector possesses an Executive Master of Science in Marketing from Baruch College, City University of New York. Heather Lowery-Kappes, New Zealand Country Director, is Vice President and Fellow of the Career Development Association of NZ (CDANZ). Heather has a Master of Counselling, a GradDip in Human Resources Management and a GradDip in Career Development. She is currently Acting Manager/Career Development Advisor at the University of Waikato and works in private practice. Heather's professional memberships include NZ Association of Counsellors (NZAC), Human Resources Institute of NZ (HRINZ), Career and Transition Association NZ, (CATE), National Association of Graduate and Careers Service Australasia (NAGCAS), and International Association for Educational and Vocational Guidance (IAEVG). Natalie Kauffman, Newsletter Committee Director, M.S., NCDA Certified Career Counselor,CSP-I, NCC, NCCC, GCDF-I has been providing both on-site and virtual comprehensive career development support to individuals and groups across the U.S. and around the world for more than 30 years. From experience gained traversing business, government, education and NPO settings and serving the ‘Z generation’ to ‘baby boomers’, Natalie is able to carefully tailor strategies and techniques to meet specific client or unique organizational needs. She is the proud recipient of NCDA's Outstanding Career Practitioner Award for exceptional performance providing career development services and a seasoned online Worklife Careers Expert through her past experience with the WashingtonPost.com. Natalie is also an adjunct faculty member/visiting instructor across multiple higher education institutions and enjoys presenting locally, regionally, nationally and internationally on a myriad of career development topics. She earned her M.S. in Applied Behavioral Counseling with a Career Counseling concentration from The Johns Hopkins University School of Education. Yevgeniya Kim, Kazakhstan Country Director, has a BA in English Teaching, MA of International Journalism and Mass Communications majoring in PR, and an Executive Degree in Business Administration. She is Director of the Career and Advising Center at Nazarbayev University, Kazakhstan. The Center unites a committed group of professionals who are there to help the students and graduates of Nazarbayev University to successfully connect their academic accomplishments with a wide range of career opportunities. Poh Li Lau, Malaysia Country Director, PhD, is a senior lecturer in Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling at University of Malaya. She received her BA and PhD in Counseling from the University of Malaya, Malaysia. Her research interests include career counseling, positive psychology, resilience and well-being, special needs programs, cross-cultural and psychological testing. She is responsible for in teaching and learning, evaluation activities in undergrad and postgrad counseling program, and consultation projects. She is also a registered counselor in Malaysia. Chau Nguyen, Vietnam Country Director, has 15 years working experience in the education sector. For ten of these years she has worked as the Student Recruitment Manager at RMIT University Vietnam. The unit acts like the bridge between the university and 400 high schools across Vietnam. Her biggest achievement was her success in leading her team in building strong relationships with those schools’ leaders, teachers, and students. Chau’s passion includes recruiting through the practice of engaging with the schools and students via useful extra curriculums activities in career orientation. Midori Nonogaki,Japan Country DirectorBA, is a Specially Appointed Professor at Asia University, CEO of Emergence, Inc. Committee Chair of Career Consultant Research Promotion of Japan Industrial Counseling Association, and Japan Country Director for APCDA. Her major work is in career education for university students, providing supports for career development, organizational development, mental health to individuals in the business field as a practitioner based in the narrative approach, training instructor, and group facilitator. Claire Ouyang, Macau Area Director, PhD,  is the Chairperson and founder of the Macao Career Development Association. She received her PhD in counseling psychology at the University of Macao. Her current practicum and research has been focused on career counseling for adolescents and emerging adults and career education in middle school settings. Lisa Raufman, Membership Committee Director, PhD,is co-author of The Career Fitness Program, Exercising Your Options ,11th ed. (Pearson Education Publisher), a popular career book used in colleges and universities since 1989 and now in its 11th edition. With over 30 years of counseling experience, she has been Faculty Development Coordinator and Dean of Counseling at El Camino College as well as an instructor/counselor and a coordinator of Career Centers at two different colleges (El Camino College and Moorpark College). A popular presenter on career development since the 1980s, she is past president of the California Career Development Association and the Los Padres American Society for Training and Development (ATD). Hsiu-Lan (Shelley) Tien, Research Committee Director, PhD, received her Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the University of Iowa in 1993. She is a professor and Department Chair at the Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling at the National Taiwan Normal University. She was a Fulbright visiting scholar at the Department of Psychology at the University of Maryland (2005-6; 2011-2012). She has also served as President of Taiwan Career Development and Consultation Association (TCDCA), Taipei Counseling Psychologist Association, and APCDA. Currently she is Director of TCDCA. Jon Woodend, Canada Country Director, is a doctoral candidate in Counselling Psychology at the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Jon's research interests include looking at the international professional transitions of newcomers to Canada. In particular, Jon's is currently focused on the university to work experiences of international students in Canada. Bory You, Cambodia Country Director, is the President of Talent Excellence Development Partner Co, LTD. She has over 16 years’ experience in the banking industry, working in human resource and talent management for Canadia Bank PLC. Ms You has a master’s degree in Finance and bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the National University of Management, Phnom Penh. She is a Certified Behavioral and Career Consultant, Instructor of Job Career Transition Coach, Job Career Development Coach, and Certified Trainer for Women Entrepreneur Leadership Program by ILO. Marilyn Maze, Executive Director of APCDA, PhD, is a Principal of PsyCoun Institute. She has organized the annual APCDA Conference since its inception, conducted numerous research projects on hot labor market and career counseling issues, and presented at international conferences. Marilyn received the President’s Award from NCDA in 2016, the NCDA Credentialing Commission Service Award in 2016, and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Maryland Career Development Association in 2010.
