Support APCDA: Empowering Career Professionals in the Asia Pacific

As a non-profit, charitable organization committed to enhancing professional development opportunities across the Asia Pacific region. We are pleased to accept tax-deductible donations that directly support scholarships for students and emerging professionals.

Where do we use our donations!

Each year, APCDA gives as many scholarships as we can afford to give.  Each scholarship is valued at $100.  You will notice that this amount is less than we charge those who pay to attend the conference, but paying ourselves this minimum amount for each scholarship allows us to survive.

We give scholarships to:

1. Emerging Leaders: Students or recent graduates in our field from any country.

2.Student presenters: Students from a Not High-income countries who are accepted as a presenter at our conference.

3. Conflict-zone career practitioners: Although war is chaotic, these professionals find solace in keeping up with their chosen field virtually when they can access the internet.

4. Students in low-income countries: depending on the funds available, we provide scholarships to those who sincerely want to attend.

5. Leaders in Not High-income countries: Many career practitioners who are local leaders, educators, and mentors to new career practitioners need to understand what is happening globally in our field but can’t afford the fees we charge to register.

Source of Scholarship Funds.

We have several sources of funds to cover these scholarships.  Some members make a donation when they renew their membership (Thank You!). We occasionally run fundraisers, such as a silent auction at our conference, or an author who donates books for us to sell and lets us keep the income for scholarships.  We are also delighted to have the Martha Russell Endowment Fund because an endowment means that only the interest can be spent each year, so an endowment continues to fund scholarships into the future.  The donor (Martha Russell’s husband) specified that the interest be spent each year on scholarships for applicants from Not High-income countries.

We need your help in supplementing these resources.  Donations of $20 or more are welcome and will be used for immediate scholarships. Donations of $1000 or more may be added to our endowment fund or used immediately on named scholarships (based on the wishes of the donor).  Donations of $5000 or more may be used to create a new “named” Endowment Fund, with the name and the restrictions on the use of the interest specified by the donor.

Urja Acharya

Coming from a third world country where financial limitations restrict the opportunities available to us, getting the scholarship and being able to attend the APCDA conference was undoubtedly one of the life changing moments for me. I believe attending the conference has opened a door and the prospect of a brighter future. The experiences and insights gained from the conference has played a key role in getting towards my career goal and shaping me into the person I am today.

Receiving the scholarship means I have succeeded, for I showcased our Career Guidance Program (Envisioning and Exploring Career Lifelines). Attending the APCDA Conference through the scholarship, I have gained a lot of new ideas and have benchmarked meaningful practices from around the globe.

Morakane Madiba

Founder of Uhunu/Uhuru Career Guidance and Learning (Non-Profit Organisation)

Coming from South Africa where many things happen that clutter the hopes of many youths, the scholarship exposed me to the outside world's knowledge, practices and networks in career development services that are in many ways a key that continues to open doors of possibilities and in the background building 'anew' hope.

I tried to make the most of the scholarship award. Got a lot to learn and had meaningful interaction with the scholars and experts in the field. There are seven more presentations of my interest that I will watch later.

Thank you for making it possible for us.
