The Japan Career Development Association (JCDA) is offering APCDA members the opportunity to join them in using the Career Construction Theory by Dr. Mark Savickas to revitalize the community, a process they used successfully in Japan for over a year. This workshop will help us to build a Human Web of career practitioners across many countries. In this workshop, participants will share & reflect on their own career journey, purpose, and future possibilities.

Detailed Description: JCDA is an organization of career counselors in Japan, founded in 2000, with more than 20,000 members. JCDA aims to be a community that emphasizes many connections, including the connections between companies and society, between members, past and present, and across countries and regions, and JCDA has named the future of the JCDA community "Human Web," a community that believes in the potential of people. In order to experience this "Human Web," the "Narrative Workshop" (based on Career Construction Theory), has been held regularly since 2022, has been well received for its simple structure that traces the "past, present, and future" of CDA as a story. This year's event will be the fifth in the series, and will be held jointly with APCDA.
In this time of unprecedented events such as COVID-19 and the invasion of Ukraine, boundaries between work and life, between countries, between my values and your values, and between areas of career support are disappearing. Under such circumstances, the ability of career practitioners to adapt to the environment in a "flexible, resilient, and effective" manner while valuing "who you are" will be increasingly sought after. Based on this idea, the "Narrative Workshop" was born as an engine for activating communities to transcend boundaries and expand their wings from within themselves to the outside. While we have been conducting workshops for JCDA members in Japan, we have decided to expand the wings of our activities globally and provide a forum for APCDA and JCDA members to talk with each other about their careers across cultures. We look forward to welcoming anyone interested in the careers of career counselors and support initiatives in Japan.
